Friday, April 17 was everything Simple Life hoped it would be! The sun was high in the sky, the temperature was warm, and Central Florida was at its absolute best. 70 friends and distinguished guests gathered at Lakeshore for the 10:30am ribbon cutting of the brand-new amenity center. Attendees included planning and zoning officials, a Sumter County queen, several members of the Sumter chamber, Wildwood, Florida mayor Ed Wolf, Josh Summers, CEO of the Realtors Association of Lake & Sumter Counties, Lakeshore interior designer Linda Houghton and all of the local contractors and vendors that helped make Lakeshore possible. During his remarks Mayor Wolf noted that “preservation of natural amenities are important to property owners and Simple Life has done a great job of preserving the waterfront while giving residents the opportunity to enjoy it.” It was exciting to hear words of overwhelming support from this important community leader as Simple Life has always been committed to making a positive impact on the communities where it builds through civic action, and opportunities for residents to participate in local arts, culture, and activities.
Lakeshore-Clubhouse Simple Life CEO Mike McCann added that during the early planning of Lakeshore, Simple Life asked themselves how they could do things differently. Not a typical housing development, McCann described how Simple Life set out to “aggregate utilities, lower development impact, save trees; and provide smaller lots, and smaller homes.” And from those beginnings Simple Life celebrated the ribbon cutting and official introduction of Lakeshore’s central hub, a gathering place for residents and friends, situated at the north end of the cottage community. Lakeshore’s Amenity Center, a 3,500 square foot facility featuring a Clubhouse, Outdoor Pool, Open-Air Pavilion, Fitness Center, Yoga Studio, and plenty of space for interest clubs and community events, was well received and sparked an air of excitement amongst the guests as they made their way around the new centerpiece for Simple Life’s active lifestyle Central Florida community.
Lakeshore Amenity Center Comes to Life at its April Ribbon Cutting Ceremony The following day, Simple Life welcomed the Wildwood and Oxford communities at large to experience the new amenity center with a public open house. Saturday morning started with a downpour and while the rain could have been a discouraging moment it turned out to be the perfect way to showcase the flood mitigation at Lakeshore as the streets, homes, and yards remained clear of water throughout the early morning. By 10:00 AM the sky cleared, the sun came out, and Central Florida was on full display yet again! Throughout the day more than 265 people passed through the Amenity Center during the public event admiring Linda Houghton’s designs and the impeccable execution performed by the various local contractors and sub-contractors over the past several months. From the beautiful lobby with its exposed beams, contemporary furnishings, and abundant natural light to the comfortable and spacious covered pavilion overlooking both the lake and the pool, the amenity center was indeed the belle of the ball.
Lakeshore-Lakeview Throughout the day guests were also treated to tours of the Sebring, the Perry, and the Alexander cottage homes, allowing them to gain further insight into the quality, comfort, and livability of the cottages at Lakeshore. When asked, homeowner Linda Gosselin said, “I like the idea that we can come and go, lock the door, and not have to worry about the property.” Her husband Phil added, “There’s a lot here. We fell in love with the place. The land itself is beautiful.”
