Welcome to Hendersonville, North Carolina, a quaint city just south of Asheville that reflects the charm and culture of this great state. Hendersonville offers picturesque sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, plenty of state parks, picnic spots, dog parks, golf courses as well as exquisite restaurants and night life. It’s not a sleepy town but it is truly one of the most magnificent places to escape from life’s hectic pace. With gorgeous waterfalls, mountains and a variety of other scenery, Hendersonville is a charming place to hang your hat and just enjoy a Simple Life.
While many locals and tourists alike will boast about the beauty of fall in Hendersonville, it’s difficult to choose which time of year is most beautiful. The apple harvest and autumn leaves draw crowds of thousands during the annual Hendersonville Apple Festival which takes place in September. North Carolina is the 7thlargest apple-producing state in the country and Hendersonville is the largest apple-producing county in North Carolina. Home to more than 200 apple growers, Hendersonville harvests Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, Granny Smith, Stayman, Fuji and Galas. Many of our local orchards offer tours which of course include apple picking and opportunities to buy apples and homemade foods.
And while we’re touting about our apple orchards, did you know that North Carolina is the brewing capital of the Southeast? Hendersonville offers a variety of breweries, taphouses and even wineries for visitors and residents to enjoy. Many of the local favorites are located in the historic and charming downtown area surrounded by award-winning restaurants. Summertime is a local favorite when every Friday evening from June until August people enjoy Music on Main Street. This town gathering is a showcase of local musical talent featuring pop, oldies, beach, rock, blues and contemporary music. It’s a foot-stomping good time where you’ll also see people dancing on Main Street in front of the stage.
Golfers won’t have to look far to find more than a dozen of the finest golf courses in Western North Carolina. Hiking enthusiasts can choose from countless hiking trails ranging in level of difficulty. For the more experienced hikers, the 404-foot Hickory Nut Falls is a “breathtaking” journey through growth forests, dazzling displays of flowers and foliage and paths through interesting rock formations. Hendersonville also offers horseback riding, hot air balloon rides, kayaking and rafting. Winter months bring magical views of white capped mountains and a town perfectly decorated for the season. Ski resorts bring people from around the country to enjoy the beauty of our quaint town.
